Alpona – Red and White Block Print Cotton Saree

The motifs are printed the way alpona is drawn on a courtyard floor: a repeating paisley, spaced out rather than crowded, in red with blue and rust worked in between.

A solid red line runs along both edges and around the pallu, which is what keeps a busy print looking tidy on the body. Light cotton, so it works for a long puja day rather than only for an hour of photographs.

Care

Hand wash in cold water for the first two washes, separately, as the red releases a little colour. Dry in shade. Machine wash gently after that.
