জল

জলরং (jolrong) means watercolour. That word sits inside our name, inside our email address, and inside everything we make. Jol Fashion BD began with paint and water on paper, and it still works the same way, only the paper became cloth.

The person behind the brush

SD Pannu is the artist and the owner. There is no design team here. Every hand-painted saree, orna, kameez, chador and panjabi that leaves this studio was painted by her hand, in Khulna.

She has been showing the work publicly since 2023, first on YouTube and then on Facebook. Nearly nine thousand people follow the channel, mostly to watch a saree being drawn from a blank length of half silk to a finished piece. That audience came for the craft, not for advertising.

What we make

  • Hand-painted sarees – muslin, half silk, cotton and organza. The heart of everything we do.
  • Cotton and handloom sarees – tant, woven by families we buy from directly.
  • Block-print and printed sarees – for everyday wear at an everyday price.
  • Three-piece sets – unstitched kameez, salwar and orna.
  • Panjabi – hand-painted menswear, including Eid and Boishakh couple sets.
  • Orna and chador – painted to match, or on their own.

The motifs keep coming back

জবা (hibiscus), গোলাপ (rose), birds among small flowers, peacocks, নকশী patterns, and village scenes painted across the back of a panjabi. These are not chosen from a catalogue. They are what she paints, again and again, each time a little differently.

Why a hand-painted saree costs what it costs

A printed saree is made by a machine, a hundred at a time, in an afternoon. A hand-painted muslin saree takes several days. Muslin is so fine that a brush loaded wrong bleeds straight through the cloth, so the paint goes on in thin layers, slowly, with drying time between them.

You are paying for those days. In return you get a piece nobody else owns.

Three things we do

  1. Retail – selling directly to you, now through this website instead of only through the Facebook inbox.
  2. Wholesale – supplying boutiques and resellers across Bangladesh. Ask us for rates.
  3. Teaching – live hand-painting classes. Details here.
